Beware of Yaari’s Manipulative Psychology

This post is more than a virus warning, it offers an insight on what shysters can do by manipulating human emotions, and a comment on how even savvy people can get sucked in.

My friend Larry is active in social networking, so I was surprised when I received this email from him…

Larry wants you to join Yaari!

Is Larry your friend?
(check boxes) Yes, Larry is my friend. No, Larry isn’t my friend.

Please respond or Larry may think you said no :(

Thanks,The Yaari Team

Note the clever use of manipulative psychology? That last sentence “please respond” implies that Larry will be hurt if we say no, and of course, he is our friend, so lets say yes! BZut as Larry found on, NO is the right answer with this bunch of crooks and thieves..

I was curious about Yaari, so I googled them and to my horror, learned how they seduced suckers into revealing their gmail password, then within minutes Yarri spams everyone in their contact list, and the contact lists of the new victim, and so forth. Within an hour my box was flooded with angry letters from Larry’s friends, who were now infected by this computer curse.

We should all know this by now, but here is the lesson again: don’t be stupid on the internet. Some bad folks hang out there. Learn to recognize them before it’s too late.
